⚠️ Upcoming closures and changes to services

as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade

We’re delivering major upgrades across the 70-mile Transpennine main line and surrounding routes. The nature and complexity of this work means we will need to close the railway at times to complete the much-needed improvements.

We work to keep passengers on trains as much as possible by diverting them onto different railway lines. Where this isn’t possible, we’ll run high quality bus replacements to keep passengers on the move.

Here are details of upcoming changes to services on TRU:

Sunday 21 August 2022

Services via Dewsbury

We will be carrying out essential upgrade work between Ravensthorpe and Leeds.

Services that normally run via Dewsbury will be diverted via Wakefield.

Trains will run to a special timetable and journeys will take up to fifteen minutes longer between Huddersfield and Leeds, so please check before you travel and leave extra time.

Rail replacement bus services will run between Huddersfield and Leeds calling at all local stations, with express rail replacement buses between Huddersfield and Leeds calling at Dewsbury only.

Services will be affected as follows:

TransPennine Express services:

Services between Liverpool and Newcastle

These journeys will make extra stops at Deighton and Mirfield.

Services between Manchester Airport and Redcar Central

These journeys will make extra stops at Stalybridge, Mossley, Greenfield, Marsden and Slaithwaite.

Services between Manchester Piccadilly and Hull

These journeys will only run between Leeds and Hull. Customers travelling to/from Manchester should change at Leeds for onward connections.

Local services between Huddersfield and Leeds

These journeys will not run.

Rail replacement buses will run between Huddersfield and Leeds instead, with some calling at all local stations and others calling only at Dewsbury.

Customers at Deighton and Mirfield wanting to travel to Huddersfield will be able to board services bound for Liverpool Lime Street – please note these will depart up to 15 minutes earlier than usual.

Customers at Deighton and Mirfield wanting to travel to Leeds will be able to board services bound for Newcastle.
