Moorgate Halt Level Crossing is located between Greenfield and Marsden stations on the edge of Uppermill village, on the Huddersfield to Manchester railway.
TRU will introduce an increased number of passenger services and freight over Moorgate Halt Level Crossing that will increase the risk to crossing users significantly, should it remain open. Therefore, our proposal is to close the level crossing and to greatly improve and enhance an already established public footpath (244 SADD) that can be used as an alternative.
The path (orange route on this map), is a diversion via an underbridge that stretches between Oldham Road and Ladcastle Road. The route is passable but we will introduce steps and handrails, to improve quality and safety. This alternative route for crossing the railway would be at most 440 metres, and should take no more than 6 minutes to walk.
