1. The promoter
1.1 The promoter is the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU).
2. The competition
2.1 The title of the competition is “Capture your Pride”, which is a campaign launched in connection with the TRU rail programme. The purpose of the campaign is to increase TRU’s engagement with audiences who may use the rail network.
2.2 The competition involves engaged with the stated social media accounts as outlined in section 3. TRU will choose a winner from anyone who posts a whilst following these mechanisms.
2.3 The winner will be contacted directly on social media to provide information required for prize retrieval, including their email address.
3. How to enter
3.1 The competition will run from 25th August 2023 to 31st August 2023 inclusive.
3.2 To enter the competition, entrants will be required to submit a Pride themed selfie whilst tagging @theTRUpgrade or using the #TRUPrideSelfie, along with following TRU on Instagram or Twitter.
3.3 In entering into either competition, entrants will be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.
3.4 All entries must be received by TRU no later than the latest date set out in clause 3.1 above. Although content may be posted after the dates set out in clause 3.1 above, all entries received after such dates will be automatically disqualified from the competition and no prizes will be awarded.
3.5 Winners of the social media competition in above will be chosen by TRU at its’ own discretion.
3.6 TRU will not accept:
(a) responsibility for competition entries that are incorrect, damaged or delayed regardless of cause. This includes entries which could be deemed ‘inappropriate’ based on the social media platform’s own guidelines.
(b) responsibility for the entrant failing to comply with any of these terms and conditions, any terms of acceptable online ‘posting’ or other forms or engagement.
3.7 By taking part in the competition, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions and agree to participate in any reasonable publicity as required by TRU.

4. Eligibility
4.1 The competition is only open to all residents in the UK (excluding Northern Ireland) aged 18 years or over, except:
(a) employees of TRU, TransPennine Trains ltd, Northern Rail ltd, Network Rail, the Department for Transport or Red Rocket.
(b) employees of agents or suppliers of any of the parties set out in clause 4.1(a) who are professionally connected with the competition or its administration; or
(c) members of the immediate families or households of (a) and (b) above.
4.2 In entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win. TRU may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the competition.
4.3 TRU will not accept competition entries that:
(a) are received after the competition has closed;
(b) are automatically generated by computer;
(c) are completed by third parties or in bulk;
(d) are illegible or have been altered, by artificial intelligence or otherwise;
(e) contain inappropriate, harmful or otherwise unsuitable usernames or places of interest;
(f) are incomplete;
4.4 There is no limit to the number of entries for the competition that a person may make but only one prize can be won per person. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not permitted.
4.5 TRU reserves all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the competition.
5. The prize
5.1 The prize which is available to be won in taking part in the competition (“the Prizes”) are as follows is a pair of return train tickets valid for anywhere on the Northern network.
5.2 There is no cash alternative for the Prize.
5.3 All Prizes will be allocated at TRU’s discretion and are not negotiable or transferable.
5.4 The prize must be redeemed and used fully before 31/12/2023, inclusive.
6. Winner announcement
6.1 Winners of the competitions will be announced by TRU on its social media channels.
6.2 If you are the winner of the prize, all effort will be made to provide as much notice as possible to notify you of steps required to claim the prize.
6.3 The Prize may not be claimed by a third party on your behalf.
6.4 TRU will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted or is not available or has not claimed their Prize within a 30-day period, TRU reserves the right to offer the Prize to the next eligible entrant.
7. Limitation of liability
7.1 Insofar as is permitted by law, TRU, its agents or partners will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the Prize except where it is caused by the negligence of TRU, its agents or partners or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
8. Ownership of competition entries and intellectual property rights
8.1 All competition entries and any accompanying material submitted to TRU will become the property of TRU on receipt and will not be returned to the entrant.
8.2 By submitting your entry and any accompanying material in accordance with clause 3.2, you agree that TRU may, but is not required to, use your entry and any photographs or other media in connection with the competition.
9. Data protection and publicity
9.1 For details of how TRU will process your data please see the Privacy Notice.
10. General
10.1 If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, TRU may at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the competition.
10.2 TRU reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
10.3 These terms and conditions (including any non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales to settle any dispute and claim arising out of or in connection with it (including any non-contractual disputes or claims).
