This includes relocating Mossley Station and upgrading Greenfield Station, as well as the reconstruction of various bridges, tunnels and highways. This legislation, approved by the Secretary of State for Transport, grants permission to carry out the work.
We consulted with the local community on our proposals before submitting the TWAO application in November 2025. A public inquiry took place across June and July 2026 as part of the process. Following this, a report was submitted by the Inspector to the Secretary of State for Transport.
We currently expect a decision on the TWAO application by Spring 2027.
