changes to services

Upgrading the Transpennine main line is a huge job. This means that, at times, we’ll need to close certain parts of the railway so we can make it more reliable and greener. When this happens, we’ll get you to where you’re going on a diversion route, or on a high quality bus or coach with comfy seats.

Here are some upcoming changes to services that might impact your journey:
Saturday 31 August and Sunday 1 September 2024
Trains through Huddersfield

What’s Happening?

We will be carrying out work as part of the major upgrade of Huddersfield Station.

How are train services affected?

No trains will be able to run to, from or through Huddersfield.

Services between Manchester and Leeds will be diverted via the Calder Valley route.

Services to and from local stations will be replaced by buses.

Trains between Leeds and York

What’s Happening?

Renewal of the track in the Thorpe Park area, between Cross Gates and Garforth. 

How are train services affected?

Most trains between Leeds and York will be diverted via Castleford.

Local stations will be served by rail replacement buses.

Trains between Brighouse and Dewsbury

What’s Happening?

We will be carrying out a number of works including mining work at Ravensthorpe, formation works at Mirfield, and sheet piling for footbridge.

How are train services affected?

All lines between Brighouse and Dewsbury will be closed and services will be diverted via Castleford.

Local stations will be served by hourly service rail replacement buses.
