Visit National RailBack station road will have a temporary footbridge to the island platforms to improve access during station upgrades. This bridge will remain in place until the station works are completed.
A new car park will be built east of the station’s current carpark location, offering more convenient parking options, and expands access to the station.
Platform 2 will be rebuilt on a new alignment, followed by the rebuilding of Platform 1. These works provide safer, modernised platforms designed to be able to handle increased capacity and improve station experience.
A new permanent footbridge with lifts will be built, connecting the new forecourt to the island platforms. This will significantly improve accessibility, making it easier for all customers with reduced mobility, parents with strollers, and those with heavy luggage to navigate the station.
Platform 3 will remain in service until January 2027, after which it will be removed. This change will streamline the station layout, improving overall efficiency and the flow of customers.
